"Schmetterlinge im Bauch"Ohne ihre Schwestern Andrea und Caroline und ihren Bruder Jim hat Sharon Corr, eine der Musikerinnen und Sí¤ngerinnen der auf Eis gelegten Geschwister-Band The Corrs, ihr erstes Solo-Album aufgenommen. Die Irin hat ihr Werk, das Folk mit Pop-Elementen verbindet, "Dream Of You" genannt. Zentrales Lied darauf ist "Butterflies", denn es beschreibe, warum sie í¼berhaupt Musik mache, meint die Songwriterin. "Es drí¼ckt aus, wie ich mich fí¼hle, kurz bevor ich die Bí¼hne betrete, in diesem ultimativen Moment voller Potenzial mit unglaublich viel Elektrizití¤t in der Luft und Schmetterlingen im Bauch."

Sharon Corr hat auf dem Longplayer auch den 80er-Jahre-Synthi-Pop-Titel "Smalltown Boy" von Jimmy Somervilles frí¼-herer Band Bronski Beat gecovert. "Der Song war fí¼r mich immer die Hymne der 80er Jahre", erzí¤hlt sie. "Erst als ich mich mehr mit dem Text beschí¤ftigte, fand ich heraus, dass es ein sehr trauriger Song ist: Er behandelt die Reise von Schottland nach London von jemandem, der sein Zuhause verlassen muss, weil seine Mutter ihn niemals verstehen wí¼rde". Das Lied vermittle eindrucksvoll, wie sich ein Homosexueller in einer einengenden heterosexuellen Gesellschaft fí¼hlen mí¼sse, so die 40-Jí¤hrige. Sie kí¶nne die Ungerechtigkeit dieser Diskriminierung gut nachfí¼hlen. Stolz berichtet sie, dass Jimmy Somerville ihr eine Nachricht habe zukommen lassen, nachdem er ihre weitaus langsamere Version gehí¶rt hatte. "Er schrieb, dass er meine Fassung absolut liebe", lí¤chelt sie.

Gitarrengott Jeff Beck gibt sich fí¼r einen Auftritt bei einem Instrumentalstí¼ck die Ehre. Mit dem 66-jí¤hrigen Englí¤nder verbindet die Violinistin nicht nur die tiefe Liebe zur Musik, sondern auch der Kontakt zu Reibeisen-Sí¤nger Rod Stewart, wie Corr erzí¤hlt. "Als ich Jeff bei seinem Konzert in Dublin backstage traf, hatten wir sofort eine Verbindung. The Corrs hatten mit Rod Stewart gearbeitet und er auch und er fing sofort an, darí¼ber zu reden. 'Ey, Du kennst doch auch meinen alten Kumpel Rod, nicht wahr?' Es war zauberhaft. "The last people to be paid and to make money out of the music industry are the songwriters and the musicians."

In a frank and revealing interview with Hot Press out today (Thursday), Sharon Corr talks about her battles against illegal file-sharing and the way the music industry treats artists, shares her views on the pleasures and challenges of motherhood and its impact on her debut album Dream of You, and confirms that The Corrs will re-unite.

Ahead of her appearance at the Music Show, which takes place at the RDS on October 2 and 3, Sharon talks about the way in which illegal internet downloading has affeted the careers of artists. "You have to decide to do something. Even if it’s something as simple as sending the sites take-down notices. I do it, and they do take them down. I believe that if you keep doing that, slowly but surely, the problem can be tackled. People file-share because it’s easy. If it’s not easy, they won’t be able to do it. And then they won’t really mind paying the euro for a single."

When it comes to balancing motherhood with working on her debut album she explains, “It was insane – there would be nappies everywhere and I would be in the middle of writing a song and I’d be able to leave it, go change the nappy and come back.”

Regarding The Corrs she says, “The Corrs came off the road in 2005 because we’d been on it non-stop for fifteen years. We were wrecked! Plus, we weren’t just a band, but a family. It was time to get our individual lives going."

Asked if she sees the band getting back together again she unequivocally says “Oh, for sure. We get on really well.”

Sin sus hermanas Andrea y Caroline y su hermano Jim, Sharon Corr, una de las músicas y cantantes del grupo de hermanos, que ahora se encuentran en un descanso, ha grabado su primer disco en solitario. La irlandesa ha titulado su obra, que combina folk con elementos pop, Dream Of You. La canción central en íéste es Butterflies, puesto que describe por quíé hace música, opina la compositora. “Expresa cómo me siento poco antes de subir a un escenario, en ese último momento lleno de potencial, con una cantidad increí­ble de electricidad en el aire y mariposas en el estómago”.

En el LP, Sharon Corr tanbiíén ha versionado la canción Synthi-Pop Smalltown Boy del grupo anterior de Jimmy Somerville Bronski Beat de los años 80. “La canción para mi siempre ha sido el himno de los 80,” cuenta. Sólo cuando prestíé más atención al texto, descubrí­ que era una canción muy triste: Trata un viaje de Escocia a Londres de alguien que tiene dejar su casa porque su madre nunca le entenderá. Relata de forma bastante impresionante como una persona homosexual debe sentirse en una opresiva sociedad heterosexual, según la cantante de 40 años. Pudo sentir bastante bien la injusticia en esta discriminación. Cuenta orgullosa que Jimmy Somerville le envió un mensaje despuíés de haber escuchado su versión mucho más lenta. “Me escribió diciíéndome que le encantó mucho mi versión”, sonrí­e.

El dios de la guitarra, Jeff Beck, participa en una instrumental. La violinista no solo comparte un profundo amor por la música con el guitarrista de 66 años, si no que tambiíén el contacto con el cantante de voz quebrada Rod Stewart, como cuenta Sharon Corr. “Cuando conocí­a a Jeff en el backstage en su concierto en Dublí­n, instantáneamente conectamos”. The Corrs habí­an trabajado con Rod Stewart y íél empezó directamente a hablar sobre ello. “Ey, tú conoces my Viejo amigo Rod, ¿no?” Fue mágico. í‰l busca muy cuidadosamente sus compañeros de dueto y estoy muy contenta que dijera que sí­ a mi canción”. El álbum de Sharon Corr Dream Of You se edita el 24 de septiembre a travíés de Warner Music.

El primer disco en solitario de la componente de The Corrs, Sharon Corr, 'Dream of you', cuyo videoclip, 'Everybody's got to learn sometime', fue grabado a principios del pasado mes de agosto en varias localizaciones andaluzas, sale el 21 de septiembre a la venta en España.
Para el ví­deo de su primer sencillo en solitario la que fuera violinista y segunda voz de The Corrs ha elegido España y, más concretamente Andalucí­a por la "calidez de la gente, la belleza del paisaje y la riqueza de su historia".

Sharon Corr es conocida por formar parte de The Corrs, el cuarteto de pop que batió ríécords de venta en todo el mundo en la díécada de 1990. The Corrs ha vendido hasta la fecha más de 35 millones de discos y a ello Sharon no sólo ha aportado melodí­as y una segunda voz sino que tambiíén ha sido escritora y co-escritora de gran parte de sus íéxitos.

Durante esos años, la cantante fue nominada a un Grammy por la canción instrumental 'Rebel heart' mientras que el grupo recogió tambiíén un premio Britt, un Ondas en España y multitud de galardones en todo el mundo. El íéxito mundial de The Corrs les llevó a actuar delante del Papa Juan Pablo II, la Reina de Inglaterra, dos presidentes de los Estados Unidos y Nelson Mandela. Sharon desempeña la función de embajadora de la asociación 46664 de Nelson Mandela en la lucha contra el SIDA.

Ayer, Sharon acudió a la presentación de The Music Show 2010 a la cual tambiíén asistió Philomena Lynott, madre de Phil Lynott, autor de Old Town. A continuación, os dejo con el artí­culo publicado por el periódico irlandíés Irish Independent:

PHIL Lynott was the ultimate rocker, responsible for some of the best music of the 1970s and 1980s.

His unmistakable voice and songs captured the hearts of millions. But he couldn't resist burning the candle at both ends, and died at the age of just 36.

Now, 25 years after the death of the Thin Lizzy singer, his mother, Philomena Lynott, will officially launch an exhibition of his memorabilia as part of the Hot Press Music Show in the RDS this weekend.

Along with four guitars owned by Lynott -- and on which he wrote Thin Lizzy hits including 'The Boys Are Back In Town' and 'Dancing In The Moonlight' -- there will also be tour jackets worn by the singer, flight cases used by Thin Lizzy, lyric books and Lynott's shares in Manchester United Football Club on display this Saturday and Sunday.

"The shares were a birthday present from me to Philip. You couldn't have gotten him a better gift because if Philip hadn't been a musician, he would have been a professional footballer playing for Manchester United, his favourite team," Philomena told the Irish Independent.

Possessions

Now 80, Philomena said she was seeking a permanent home for her son's collection, which up until now has been kept in her north Dublin home.

"There are lot of song lyrics and birthday cards. In fact, I have everything he ever sent to me since he was four years of age," she said.

"I'd love Philip's stuff in its own place because I don't want his possessions sold off after I'm gone.

"I always want people to remember the greatest rock star in the world," she added.

Someone who would agree wholeheartedly is Thin Lizzy fan and Communications Minister Eamon Ryan, who posed with the star's bass guitar when he turned up to launch the show yesterday and was only slightly embarrassed when Philomena told him he was a "very handsome minister".

The weekend's entertainment includes a live stage, featuring acts including Damien Dempsey, panels, workshops, and interviews with music figures such as Bob Geldof.

Sharon Corr, who covered Lynott's 1982 solo single 'Old Town' with The Corrs, will also perform at the show.

"We got a tremendous reaction to Old Town. I'm sad I didn't see Thin Lizzy at the time but the group and Phil were a big influence," she said.

SINGER Sharon Corr has revealed how she and her idol Michael Buble could soon be hitting the recording studio together.

The glamorous mum-of-two explained how the pair hit it off when the Canadian artist jetted to Dublin last weekend for two sell-out performances at the Aviva stadium on Friday and Saturday night.

Sharon (40) has just released her first debut solo album, called Dream Of You and says that it would make her own dreams come true if she had the opportunity to collaborate with the hunky Haven't Met You Yet performer on her next album.

The brunette beauty, who is one fourth of hugely successful family band The Corrs, admits she is hoping to meet up with Buble in the near future to discuss the possibility of working together.

"I met him last weekend for the first time and he's an absolute dote," Sharon told the Herald. "I was at his gig on Saturday night and I must say I really, really enjoyed it. He's a beautiful singer and it was just a lovely gig.

"We were actually in a corporate box so I wasn't expecting the sound to be great but I have to admit it was phenomenal. It was great all over the stadium so I think they're on to a winner for other concerts.

"Afterwards Michael came up to meet us and we did discuss our mutual love of music. We've both worked with David Foster in the past so we had a chat about that and about what a talented producer he is.

"He's certainly someone I would be honoured to work with in the future so you never know, watch this space," she added.

Sharon went on to explain how she is also keen to reunite with her siblings -- Andrea, Caroline and Jim -- to work together again and says there can be more pressure to succeed when you venture out on your own.

"We've discussed it and we'll definitely be doing something down the line. It won't be happening right now but someday soon. I love working with them and I do miss them now that I'm out on my own."

The ambitious artist is due to spend time in Spain and numerous other destinations across the UK next month as she begins a promotional tour to publicise her new album.
