As a way to celebrate the one year anniversary of my Patreon, I'm proud to announce that my ten favourite singles of the past year will appear on Vinyl in three beautiful editions!
In May 2020 I started releasing a song every month on Patreon as an outlet for my surplus of music. The year that followed was an absolute roller coaster, from living through a global pandemic to closing a chapter so dear to me. It shows through these songs, written, performed and produced right here in my Six Feet Under home studio. Working on these songs with the support of a wonderful community has been a lifesaver during such turbulent times, and I'm happy to bring them out of the basement and into the world with this release.

I am proud to announce my second self-produced full length record: Tales From Six Feet Under Vol. II, to be released on October 7th, 2022. Pre-saves and pre-orders are open now through charlottewessels.nl
Since May 2020, I’ve been writing and recording a new song every month down in my basement “Six Feet Under Studio”, fueled by - and released to my tight-knit Patreon community. This album wouldn’t be there without them. I’m excited to team up with @napalmrecords again to share a brand new collection of these tracks with a wider audience.
With “Tales From Six Feet Under” (2021) I released my favorite tracks of the first year of this endeavor onto the world, and the upcoming album “Tales From Six Feet Under Vol. II” is its counterpart, with my favorite tracks from the second year. There are definitely differences between the two, with the second leaning more towards the heavier side, but they do belong together.
The cover artwork, made by the inimitible @maarten.donders was made to reflect that connectedness, and a movement towards the light. Because one can't stay in the basement forever: Tales Vol. II will be released on October 7th, well in time before my first live show on October 23rd at @tivolivredenburg - effectively making it a Double Release Show for both Tales From Six Feet Under Vol. I and II. I can't wait to get back out there.

In the run up to the release of my album ‘Tales From Six Feet Under Vol. II’, and the Double Release show for Tales From Six Feet Under Vol. I and II coming up October 23rd at TivoliVredenburg , I am doing a series of Throwbacks through a number of videos, songs, and other highlights from the past two years. Why? Because this release show feels like a long awaited coming out of the basement, and a celebration after over two years of monthly song releases (#30 is coming up holy sh*t) that led to two compilation albums which will now be performed live for the first time ever with the added magic of Timo Somers Joey Marin Otto Schimmelpenninck van der Oije and Sophia Vernikov
It is A Milestone.
I’m starting today with the event that launched this entire adventure; my intro video to Patreon made by Blond&Blauw Films
I was so excited to start this project and had high hopes, but nothing could have prepared me for how wild this thing actually got 🙂 True, some parts of the video have aged better than others (I haven’t been headbanging on a stage for a long time, and my focus has been almost entirely on music, painting and propagating have taken the backseat), but many things have turned out to be so much more magical than I could have EVER guessed starting out. First and foremost the patrons that have been of so much support over the past two years; From the sense of community, the encouragement, the hangouts filled with laughter and wine, the surprises and general banter on the Discord, to the pledges that funded nearly everything that I’ve put out and that supported not just me, but also all other creatives that worked on those projects - You guys rock!
In my opening text on patreon it states that I’m starting a Patreon because “I want to release my music” (check! Song #30 is in the making, and album #2 is to be released), “I want to established a direct connection with YOU” (If I go by the amount of inside jokes and good and bad times shared I’d say we got to know each other pretty well), “I want to cut out the middle man” (check! Being able to finance my own projects through Patreon has given me a lot of independence which I don’t ever take for granted) and “You can’t please everyone” (Well I definitely don’t, but what I mostly mean there is that I get to focus on the impact of my work, rather than how many people it will appeal to, which is a real blessing) I’ve also crossed of a few things from my “if things really take off” list including releasing Vinyl, making beautiful videos and we also made a big donation to Stichting Vluchteling recently. We made that happen!

Tomorrow at 16:00 I'll release a new and improved version of the music video for "Against All Odds" ft Timo Somers - which was the first single of my most recent album Tales From Six Feet Under Vol II.
When we recorded the initial version we were just getting ready to return to the stage with Tales From Six Feet Under - Live in Concert. We performed the song on an empty stage to our filmmaker and the cleaning crew alone in a single spotlight, in full anticipation of our return to the stage and knowing that we’d have to wait another few months for the conclusion to the story.
The new version is no longer open ended, stay tuned to see it tomorrow!

On the new album, that represents a dark and soulful trip through different stages of fear and breaking free - CHARLOTTE WESSELS adds bucketloads of bombast to genre-bending songwriting, as spellbinding melancholia and dark catchy elements meet progressive and heavier soundscapes.
The former DELAIN vocalist’s earlier solo endeavors already gained Wessels a remarkable number of devotees, but for the upcoming release Wessels is raising the bar significantly. While still writing and producing the songs in her Six Feet Under basement home studio and sharing their first incarnations with her patrons, now she’s taking the songs to the next level with a band of her fellow ex-DELAIN cohorts Timo Somers (guitars, additional arrangements), Otto Schimmelpenninck van der Oije (bass) and Joey Marin de Boer (drums) as well as Sophia Vernikov (piano/hammond), contributing to the new heavier sound. The album also features arrangements by Vikram Shankar (Silent Skies, Pain of Salvation), cello by Elianne Anemaat, was mixed by Guido Aalbers (Muse, Coldplay, The Gathering) and mastered by Andy VanDette (Porcupine Tree, VOLA, Dream Theater)
