I've had a very interesting few weeks. The week before last, I had Stuart Cable in the studio, ex- Stereophonics, current Killing For Company drummer. I met him, he was interviewing me for BBC Radio Wales and we just really clicked and halfway through the interview I was talking about the album and he was saying: "How is it going?", and I said: "Do you want to come and play drums?", and he went: "Yeah sure!". So that's how Stuart Cable ended up here, like a month later playing drums on the album. He played on Arms Lie Limp which is kind of, I suppose... it's become like a rock ballad, perhaps a little sadder than that which is me, but he's great and we went out afterwards to Town Bar & Grill and we had a really great night, so it was good.
I had Noel Eccles in as well, an amazing percussionist. He has worked a lot with Moving Hearts and various different people, but he really is quite incredible, so he came in and put percussion down on everything. So we have dunbecks, we have congas, bongos, we have like one of those rain things, I forget what it's called, we have meditation balls on it, we have all sorts of shakers with various sorts of stuff on the inside, he had a ballygowan bottle as a shaker at one stage with sand in it, so lots of interesting implements. He's incredible, so he came in and played.
We had Jim Lockhart, from Horslips, in last week which was amazing. You can only imagine how exciting that was for me because they were an absolutely huge influence on what The Corrs did themselves. So it was great. He played some great flute on the traditional numbers, so I'm very happy with that. He's a real gentleman, it was really, really lovely to meet him. Yeah, so Jim Lockhart and also Davey Spillane has played on the album, so he has played some low flute over the album, over the traditional pieces, so that's also great. Obviously, Anto has been putting in a few favours for some friends for me which has been great and I'm working quite hard finding people to play with as well because I just think that you hear a lot of the same out there nowadays and I really want to make an album that is very, very eclectic with a lot of interesting music on it with a lot of interesting people collaborating together. You know, you wouldn't necessarily put Stuart Cable, you know, a rock drummer, with me and that's what I really like about it. It's great, you know.
So yeah, it's been a crazy few weeks and I think we're almost finished. Another couple of weeks or so and we should have it nailed. We'll see.
