Imaginosity: Festival of Stories
Imaginosity, Dublin Children’s Museum to launch its inaugural ‘Festival of Stories’ for Families this October.
Imaginosity, Dublin Children’s Museum is delighted to announce its inaugural ‘Festival of Stories’ which takes place from October 8th to 16th 2011, in celebration of the National Children’s Book Festival 2011. The Imaginosity festival aims to encourage families to come together to experience the joy of reading and to explore the wonderful world of storytelling.
Imaginosity will host a festival jam-packed with literary and story-telling themed events, activities and workshops. We are thrilled and excited to welcome Actor & Director Alan Stanford, Musician Sharon Corr, TV Presenter and Author Emma O’Driscoll, Author Benji Bennett and Illustrator Chris Judge (with further names to be announced) to take part in our special storytelling & drawing sessions throughout the festival. ‘Yoga Stories’ workshops, ‘Sign-A- Story’ workshops with ‘Irish Deaf Kids’, Comic Illustration and Animation Workshops, ‘Cook Up A Story’ Creative Workshops, Giant Pop-Up Art Workshops, Puppet Storytime and Literary Arts & Crafts and a host of other workshops and activities will make up an exciting family festival.
For our younger visitors, Maisy the Mouse (of the ‘Maisy Books’ fame) will be popping along for educational fun and games, tea parties and lots more. Wally (of ‘Where’s Wally’ fame) will also be visiting for some hide and seek fun for our older visitors.
There will be something to suit all ages over the course of the festival, for children up to the age of 9 years and their families. Specifically for grown-ups, Imaginosity will host a special ‘Bedtime Storytelling Skills’ Workshop to encourage and enable parents to learn some important skills for that special time of the day.
And in keeping with Imaginosity’s green ethos, we will host a ‘Book Swop’ for both children and adult book titles, for the duration of the festival, where we encourage visitors to bring a book to swop for a different book, thereby reducing waste in the environment.
All ‘Festival of Stories’ activities and events are free with general admission to Imaginosity. Booking is advised, particularly at weekends. For full details see: www.imaginosity.ie or call (01) 217 6130 / 33
